Does sustainable development only intend to show that the environment protection is necessary to let the ongoing economic development ? If the concept has raised some debates, we must also admit this one has often forsaken the spatial elements of problem. Well, sustainable development is first a pragmatic object which must meet territorial concerns. Reconsidering the axiomatic of problem, this paper presents an analysis of the application modes of sustainable development by taking the case of Dunkirk. An industrial region where economic durability depends as much on the protection as the valorization of environment. * Communication présentée
