Climate notes: Electricity exports, EEG and emissions trading

Abstract

Achieving a better networking of the European electricity markets is an important goal for energy policies, mainly motivated by the strong expansion of renewable energy. Against this background, this article looks at current developments in German external trade in electricity and examines the interplay of demands for renewable energy and emissions trading in Europe.
