Abstract

The investigation has examined the current state of grain productivity, using statistics concerning farm inputs and Pakistan’s major grain crops. The research is divided into two phases. There are two stages to the analysis in this study. The parametric Tornquist Theil Index output-input-aggregation approach is used in the initial phase to extract the TFP (total factor productivity) indicator for wheat, maize, and rice crops separately. The ARDL model is used to determine whether cointegration exists between the indicators over the short term as well as the long term. The study’s findings showed that while maize and wheat have unfavorable long-run cointegration associations with their respective productivities, the intake of rice has a favorable link with the efficiency of all factors. The study’s findings demonstrate how climate fluctuation and the current pattern in food consumption have significantly altered the way staple crops are consumed.
