Progrès technologique et employabilité des seniors

Ce papier propose une revue synthétique du lien entre vieillissement, capacités cognitives, productivité et employabilité des seniors. Il s’agit notamment d’analyser comment les changements technologiques et organisationnels observés sur les dix dernières années — largement imputables à l’introduction de l’ordinateur au sein de l’entreprise — ont pu affecter la demande de travail envers les seniors. L’existence d’interactions complexes entre caractéristiques spécifiques à l’individu et celles spécifiques à l’entreprise explique l’absence de relation statistiquement significative entre productivité et âge du travailleur. Il apparaît cependant que des facteurs tels que le niveau et le type de formation initiale, mais aussi la motivation, sont des déterminants importants de l’employabilité du senior puisque conditionnant son adaptabilité à l’utilisation de nouvelles techniques et méthodes de production. À ce titre, le système d’incitations pour investir dans le capital humain joue un rôle important à la fois pour le senior et l’entreprise.
