Ökonomische Effekte der Digitalisierung in Österreich

Abstract

Die Digitalisierung bedingt eine grundlegende Transformation der Wirtschaftssysteme. Aufgrund der Euphorie in Bezug auf neue technologische Möglichkeiten – ebenso wie der Angst davor – werden die kurzfristigen Auswirkungen häufig überschätzt und die langfristigen Folgen unterschätzt (Amaras Gesetz). Eine wesentliche Folge der Digitalisierung besteht darin, dass aufgrund geringerer Transaktionskosten für Information und Kommunikation der mögliche Wirkungsradius von Unternehmen größer und die Konkurrenz intensiver werden. Entsprechend steigen die Anforderungen an die "digitale Intelligenz" als Bestimmungsfaktor der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit von Volkswirtschaften. Diese verfolgen im Wesentlichen gleiche Ziele mit ähnlichen strategischen Schwerpunkten und Maßnahmen. Was den Unterschied ausmacht, sind Effizienz, Effektivität und Geschwindigkeit in der Umsetzung.
