Location decisions in a changing labour market environment

Abstract

Wir untersuchen die Determinanten der regionalen sektoralen Konzentration filmbezogener Dienstleistungen (wie Kameraverleih, Castingagenturen oder Pyrotechnik). Unser Hauptinteresse gilt dabei der Humankapitalspezifität, die auf zwei einander entgegengesetzte Weisen die Standortwahl beeinflussen kann. Ist es – erstens – möglich, dass Beschäftigte leicht von einem Arbeitgeber zum anderen wechseln, dann könnten die Unternehmen die Abwerbung erfahrener Arbeitskräfte befürchten und hätten einen Grund, Standorte mit wenigen Wettbewerbern zu bevorzugen. Andererseits ist ein großer lokaler Arbeitsmarkt mit vielen Anbietern, die aufgrund geringer Humankapitalspezifität keine langen Einarbeitungszeiten benötigen, attraktiv gerade für die hier betrachtete Branche, für die kurzfristige Projektarbeit typisch ist.
