Mobilidad social, educación y mercado laboral en el departamento de Córdoba (Colombia)

Abstract

En este trabajo se examina la movilidad social en el departamentode Córdoba entre los anos 2003 y 1996, especialmente en las zonasurbanas. El fenómeno se analiza desde la perspectiva educativa y ocupacional, y se establecen relaciones entre el nivel educativo y lacondición de pobreza, enfatizando en la transmisión intergeneracional de esta última a partir de la educación del jefe del hogar. El documento explora igualmente las relaciones entre los patrones de desarrolloeconómico del departamento, los mercados laborales y la estructurade oportunidades. Se construyen matrices de movilidad, y se utilizanescalares para crear indicadores que complementen el análisis de lasasimetrías entre los distintos grupos sociales. Se encontró evidenciade movilidad absoluta y relativa en Córdoba, lo que quiere decir quelos hijos tienen alta probabilidad de superar a los padres en una misma generación; sin embargo, las ganancias en movilidad se presentan enlos niveles de educación menores al capital educativo básico (12 anos), y, por tanto, pueden considerarse bajas e insuficientes para reducir lapobreza intergeneracional como consecuencia de las restricciones ala acumulación de capital humano. In this work social mobility in the department of Cordoba in 2003and 1996 is examined, specially in the urban zones. The phenomenonis analyzed from the educative and occupational perspective, and relations between the educative level and the condition of povertysettle down, emphasizing in the intergenerational transmission of thesame one from the education of the head of the home. The documentalso explores the relations between the labor patterns of economicdevelopment of the department, markets and the structure of opportunities. Mobility matrices are constructed, and they are usedyou will climb to construct indicators that complement the analysisof the asymmetries between the different social groups. Was evidence of absolute and relative mobility in Cordoba, which means that thechildren have discharge probability of surpassing to the parents in asame generation; nevertheless, the gains in mobility appear in thesmaller levels of education to basic the educative capital (12 years), and therefore, can be considered low and insufficient to reduce theintergenerational poverty as a result of the restrictions to the humanaccumulation of capital.
