Abstract

******ABSTRACT: The Colombian health system has undergone major transformations in recent decades. Since there is evidence that shows the progress made in terms of coverage and indicators of the health status of the population varies among regions, the Center for Regional Economic Studies (CEER) developed a research agenda in this topic. This document has two purposes: (i) to synthesize the main results of the CEER´s work; and (ii) to provide some policy recommendations arising from this analysis. The paper concludes that there are still some regional disparities in health status, the supply of services and access to them. An additional effort to reduce those differences should be a priority of public health policy in Colombia.
