Abstract

•Reconceptualising dynamic capabilities framework to distributed dynamic capabilities provides important analytical insights.•Examination of technology-based competitive advantage under collectively coordinated environments.•Demonstrates how market structure influences opportunities for learning in production.•Benefits of taking distributed dynamic capabilities and economic development in broader perspective.•Mineral resource-base can create complex and sophisticated knowledge based economies.
