Las visiones sobre instituciones y desarrollo regional en el Caribe colombiano: Un debate en marcha

Abstract

The current work describes the theoretical approach regardinginstitutions of on the one hand, Professor Jairo Parada and, on theother, the regions economics studies center of the Banco de LaRepublica at Cartagena city. These have provoked a debate betweenthese both prominent actors of the regional economic opinion. Tounderstand this debate, first, it was necessary to know the theoreticalapproach of each party regarding institutions and second, therelationship between institutions and regional economic developmentand, finally, the economic policies suggested by both parts in orderto promote the economic and social development of the Caribbeanregion.Este trabajo describe los conceptos con respecto al tema de lasinstituciones expresadas por el profesor Jairo Parada y el Centrode Estudios Económicos Regionales del Banco de la República deCartagena y que han suscitado un debate entre estos dos destacadosactores de la opinión económica regional. Para comprender esedebate, se procedió a definir lo que cada una de las partes entiendepor instituciones, su relación con el desarrollo económico regionaly, por ende, las implicaciones de política que buscan promover eldesarrollo económico y social de la región Caribe.
