Weltweite ökonomische Folgen einer zunehmend protektionistischen US-Handelspolitik

Abstract

Viele Länder stehen dem Problem des zunehmenden Protektionismus gegenüber. Mit der Ernennung des neuen US-Präsidenten Donald Trump hat diese Entwicklung ein neues Level erreicht. Der Artikel quantifiziert die wirtschaftlichen Folgen protektionistischer Bestrebungen, indem er sich auf Szenarien, die von der US-Regierung als potenzielle Handelspolitiken kommuniziert wurden, konzentriert. Die Ergebnisse der drei Simulationen – 1. die Vereinigten Staaten ziehen sich aus dem Nordamerikanischen Freihandelsabkommen NAFTA zurück, 2. eine Border Tax Adjustment wird eingeführt und 3. die US-amerikanischen Zölle werden erhöht – zeigen, dass von allen angedrohten protektionistischen Maßnahmen weder die USA noch ihre Handelspartner profitierten.
