Digital urban network connectivity: Global and Chinese internet patterns

Abstract

type="main" xml:lang="es"> Las ciudades no solo están conectadas a través de infraestructura convencional, sino también a través de infraestructura digital. Este artículo pone a prueba si los patrones de conectividad digital siguen a los tradicionales. Utilizando un modelo de interacción espacial generalizado, este artículo muestra que la geografía (y la distancia) aun siguen siendo importantes para un amplio conjunto de ciudades del mundo. Con miras a una urbanización en rápido crecimiento, nuestra atención se centra a continuación en las grandes ciudades emergentes de China, para poner a prueba la importancia de las fricciones de distancia – en relación con un amplio conjunto de otras variables explicativas importantes – para la conectividad digital. Se encontraron varios resultados interesantes con respecto a la conectividad digital en el sistema urbano de China, mientras que la geografía parece jugar también aquí un papel importante.
