Abstract

[Vorwort] Am 1. März 2016 fand im Forum des Thünen-Instituts in Braunschweig das 2. Symposium für Ökonomie im Gartenbau statt. Ausrichter waren das Thünen-Institut für Betriebswirtschaft, der Lehrstuhl für Betriebswirtschaftslehre des Agribusiness der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen und das WeGa-Kompetenznetz Gartenbau e. V. Die Partner haben damit ihre erfolgreiche Kooperation zu gartenbauökonomischen Fragen fortgesetzt, die sie mit ihrer Zusammenarbeit im Rahmen des Verbundforschungsvorhabens WeGa - Wertschöpfungskette Gartenbau und der Durchführung des 1. Symposiums für Ökonomie im Gartenbau im November 2013 in Göttingen begonnen hatten. In verschiedenen Keynotes von Referenten aus den Bereichen Gartenbau, Lebensmitteleinzelhandel, Gastronomie und Vermarktung von Gartenbauerzeugnissen sowie in 18 angemeldeten Vorträgen von Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern wurden verschiedene gartenbauökonomische Fragestellungen beleuchtet. Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt bildeten Vorträge zum Rahmenthema des 2. Symposiums für Ökonomie im Gartenbau: 'Nachhaltigkeit und Regionalität -Chancen und Herausforderungen für den Gartenbau'. Aspekte der ökologischen, sozialen und ökonomischen Nachhaltigkeit sowie der Regionalität wurden mit Blick sowohl auf nationale als auch internationale Wertschöpfungsketten erörtert. Beispiele bildeten Vorträge zu Möglichkeiten der Reduzierung des Glyphosateinsatzes im deutschen Sonderkulturanbau, zu den Folgen der Entlohnung von Arbeitskräften im Gartenbau nach den Regeln des Mindestlohngesetzes, zur Klimafreundlichkeit der regionalen Vermarktung, zum Stellenwert der Nachhaltigkeit im gärtnerischen Einzelhandel sowie zu Nachhaltigkeitsstandards als Einflussgrößen auf den internationalen Frischobsthandel. Daneben wurden aber auch Studien zu neueren Produktionsverfahren, beispielsweise der Erzeugung von Spargel unter verschiedenen Foliensystemen, zu Möglichkeiten der Anpassung von Weinbaubetrieben an Extremwetterereignisse und vielem anderem mehr vorgestellt. Das 2. Symposium für Ökonomie im Gartenbau hat erneut deutlich gemacht, dass es einen Bedarf an entsprechenden Veranstaltungen im deutschsprachigen Raum gibt, um den Wissens- und Erfahrungsaustausch zwischen Vertretern der Wissenschaft sowie insbesondere zwischen Wissenschaft und unternehmerischer Praxis zu fördern. Die Veranstalter verstehen es daher als ihre Pflicht, auch in Zukunft dem Transfer von Wissen und Erfahrungen zwischen Forschung und Praxis ein Forum zu bieten. [...]
