Abstract

Despite the variety of indicators describing the economy of each country, a generalized qualitative description of the economy can be performed using the concept of the “economic image” of a certain country, indicating a key subsystem from among the traditionally distinguished tiers of the economy - macroeconomics, mesoeconomics, microeconomics, nanoeconomics. It has been shown that for Russia such a subsystem is mesoeconomics which acts as a link between macro- and microeconomics. The necessity of developing an economic policy aimed at the institutional and functional development of the Russian meso-economy has been emphasized.
