Zutritt zur Festung Europa? Neue Anforderungen an eine moderne Asyl- und Flüchtlingspolitik

Abstract

Die anhaltenden Asyl- und Flüchtlingsströme und der Antritt der neuen Europäischen Kommission am 1. November 2014 bieten Anlass für eine Debatte über ein Umdenken in der deutschen und europäischen Zuwanderungspolitik. Eine Abkehr vom „Festungsdenken“ ist dringend geboten. Die bisherige Abschottungspolitik ist nicht nur gesellschaftspolitisch, sondern auch ökonomisch und demografisch verfehlt. Die Potenziale von Flüchtlingen und Asylsuchenden könnten und sollten im europäischen und deutschen Interesse besser genutzt werden. Auch diese Migranten sollten frühzeitig in den Arbeitsmarkt integriert werden und könnten mittelfristig demografische Herausforderungen besser bewältigen helfen. Eine gerechtere Lastenverteilung unter den europäischen Mitgliedsstaaten bei ihrer Aufnahme ist überfällig.
