Abstract

Zusammenfassung Unternehmen können technologisches Wissen nicht nur intern in eigenen Produkten oder Dienstleistungen anwenden, sondern dieses auch extern vermarkten. Während die externe Beschaffung von Technologien und insbesondere das Konzept der ‚Absorptive Capacity’ auf starkes Interesse in der Forschung gestoßen sind, wurde die externe Technologieverwertung (ETV) trotz ihrer steigenden Bedeutung in der Praxis bisher vernachlässigt. Insbesondere wurde nicht berücksichtigt, welche spezifischen Fähigkeiten ein erfolgreiches Management der ETV erfordert. Daher wird im vorliegenden Beitrag ein fähigkeitsorientierter Ansatz der ETV entwickelt, wobei das Konzept der ETV-Fähigkeit als Ergänzung zu ‚Absorptive Capacity’ anzusehen ist. Im Anschluss daran werden vier Hypothesen über den Zusammenhang zwischen möglichen Determinanten einer ETV-Fähigkeit (intraorganisationale Kommunikation, spezifische Ressourcen, partizipativer Ansatz, interorganisationale Netzwerke) und dem Erfolg von Unternehmen in der ETV aufgestellt. Diese Hypothesen werden mithilfe von Daten aus einer Fragebogenstudie in 136 Firmen aus unterschiedlichen Branchen überprüft. Somit stellt der vorliegende Artikel auch die erste großzahlige empirische Studie über Erfolgsfaktoren für das Management der ETV dar. Die Ergebnisse der Studie bestätigen die Sichtweise des fähigkeitsbasierten Konzepts und ermöglichen damit ein detailliertes Verständnis der Erfolge beziehungsweise Misserfolge von Unternehmen in der ETV.
