Dritter Bericht zur internationalen Wettbewerbsfähigkeit Wiens

Abstract

Aufbauend auf einer großen und harmonisierten internationalen Datenbasis analysiert die vorliegende Studie die Ergebnisse (Indikatoren) der regionalen Wettbewerbsfähigkeit Wiens sowie deren Bestimmungsgründe (Determinanten) in einem Vergleich mit 65 europäischen Großstadtregionen. Auch gemessen an diesem anspruchsvollen Vergleichssample erweist sich die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der Wiener Wirtschaft als gut. Sie ist allerdings vor allem hinsichtlich des Arbeitsmarktes nicht gänzlich ungefährdet. Eine wesentliche Herausforderung wird es daher sein, die deutlich wachsende Bevölkerung bei hoher und steigender Produktivität ins Erwerbsleben zu integrieren. Dies erfordert eine explizit wachstumsorientierte Standort- und Strukturpolitik, die Defizite in den Determinanten der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit aufgreift und Stärken im Dienstleistungsbereich zu einer konsequenten Markterweiterung über die Grenzen nutzt.
