Mercado de trabajo de Colombia: suma de partes heterog�neas

Abstract

Se encuentran diferencias importantes entre ciudades en variables del mercado de trabajo de Colombia como las tasas de participaci�n, ocupaci�n, desempleo y salarios. Se construyen rangos para estas variables como la diferencia entre el valor m�s alto correspondiente a una ciudad y el valor m�s bajo correspondiente a otra ciudad. Los rangos de variaci�n promedio desde 2001 hasta 2011 o desde 2006 hasta 2011 en cada una de estas variables son superiores a los 13 puntos porcentuales. Dichos rangos son sensibles al aumento de las tasas de participaci�n y ocupaci�n. Este hecho, en el caso de la tasa de desempleo, ha sido documentado para otros pa�ses. Sin embargo, en Colombia, contrario a lo que se presenta a nivel internacional, cuando la tasa de desempleo aumenta no se observa una respuesta sistem�tica del rango de esta variable. En los pa�ses analizados los rangos de las tasas de desempleo crecen al aumentar la tasa de desempleo.
