Was Bedingt Die Bereitschaft Deutscher Milcherzeuger Zur Teilnahme An Einem Nachhaltigkeitsstandard? Ergebnisse Einer Empirischen Untersuchung

Abstract

Die deutsche Milchindustrie zählt zu den umsatzstärksten Sektoren der Land- und Ernährungswirtschaft und nimmt innerhalb der EU-28 eine führende Stellung ein. Gleichzeitig steht die Milchbranche vielfältigen Herausforderungen gegenüber, wie bspw. volatilen Märkten, einer hohen Intensität des internationalen Wettbewerbs, einem marktmächtigen Lebensmitteleinzelhandel und einer wachsenden Kritik der Gesellschaft an den Tierwohlstandards und Umweltwirkungen der Milchproduktion. Das Konzept eines Nachhaltigkeitsstandards kann vor diesem Hintergrund ein Instrument darstellen, um Wettbewerbsvorteile zu generieren und auf gesellschaftliche Ansprüche an die Milchproduktion zu reagieren. Vorliegende Studien zeigen, dass die erfolgreiche Implementierung eines betrieblichen Nachhaltigkeitsmanagements eng mit der Innovationsbereitschaft sowie den Motiven von Landwirten verbunden ist. Welche dieser Einflussfaktoren die Einführung eines Nachhaltigkeitsstandards in der Milchproduktion bedingen, ist bisher allerdings nicht näher untersucht worden und daher Gegenstand dieser Studie. 226 Landwirte sind befragt worden, um ihre Bereitschaft zur Implementierung eines Nachhaltigkeitsstandards zu erfassen und die auf die Teilnahmebereitschaft wirkenden Motive und ihre Innovationsbereitschaft zu analysieren. Die Ergebnisse der durchgeführten Untersuchung zeigen, dass insbesondere finanzielle Motive, die Wahrnehmung gesellschaftlicher Forderungen und eine hohe Innovationsbereitschaft einen Einfluss auf die Teilnahmebereitschaft der Landwirte haben. Aus der Studie können Handlungsempfehlungen für Molkereien, die einen Nachhaltigkeitsstandard für die Milchproduktion einführen wollen, abgeleitet werden.
