No Linealidades en el Consumo Argentino: Evidencia desde Local Projections

Abstract

Estudiamos la dinámica del consumo privado en Argentina y sus respuestas no lineales frente a shocks de ingreso y tasas de interés. Tras aplicar Local Projections a la serie trimestral 1993–2024, se confirma la fuerte sensibilidad del gasto al ingreso corriente, con propensiones marginales a consumir cercanas o superiores a la unidad. La transmisión ingreso–consumo es más intensa y persistente en expansiones y contextos de baja inflación, y más débil en recesiones o con alta inflación. En cambio, la tasa de interés real muestra efectos débiles y poco significativos. En total, la evidencia apunta a que las decisiones de gasto se guían más por heurísticas vinculadas al ingreso corriente que por la ecuación de Euler tradicional, aunque una explicación completa de los hallazgos resaltan el papel de la incertidumbre y las condiciones financieras en la dinámica del consumo.
