Les inégalités d’éducation : une nouvelle base mondiale (1950-2015)

Abstract

Une nouvelle base mondiale sur les inégalités d’éducation est proposée ici, s’inspirant de la base élaborée par Benaabdelaali et al. (2012) et s’appuyant sur la version 2016 de la base de Barro et Lee (2013). Elle couvre la période 1950-2015 pour un ensemble de 146 pays. Elle donne une estimation des inégalités d’éducation de la population par groupe d’âge de 5 ans et par tranche d’âges agrégés, en considérant 7 niveaux d’éducation. Elle présente, outre l’indice de Gini, plusieurs indices de la famille d’entropie généralisée et de la famille d’Atkinson. Elle offre des données plus appropriées en corrigeant l’erreur de pondération utilisée par Barro et Lee dans le calcul de la moyenne d’années de scolarisa-tion, qui peut amener un biais important pour de nombreux pays. A partir de cette base de données un panorama de la réduction des inégalités d’éducation au niveau mondial est schématiquement présenté. Dans les pays en développement, la réduction des inégalités d’éducation est essentiellement liée à la baisse de la population n’ayant aucune scolarisa-tion. Néanmoins, l’écart entre les pays à faible niveau de développement humain dans certaines régions du monde et ceux à développement humain élevé reste important.
