Abstract

[fre] L'usage le plus courant de la comparaison internationale consiste à rechercher quelles sont les économies qui font le moins bien et celles qui font le mieux dans tel ou tel domaine. On constate, par exemple, que l'industrie française des technologies de l'information et des communications est, parmi l'ensemble des pays industrialisés, la 4e par le chiffre d'affaires et la 5e par le nombre d'emplois, que l'Irlande est, au sein de l'Union européenne, le pays qui a connu la plus forte progression du produit par tête et que l'Espagne a eu le taux de chômage le plus élevé dans les années 90. Commenter les positions des économies, les unes par rapport aux autres ou en référence à une moyenne internationale, est une façon de relativiser les performances nationales.
