Corruption and emerging markets: Systematic review of the most cited

Abstract

This paper analyzes the most cited and published articles internationally, indexed in Scopus, addressing corruption and emerging markets. It can target the articles in three periods: 2000–2002 which is characterized by inserting the discussion of corruption directed to emerging markets (effervescence); 2003–2005, characterized by the consolidation of the discussion related to corruption and with a strong theoretical connotation (theoretical basis); and 2006–2010, characterized by discussion about corruption in more focused and specific situations (theoretical maturity). There was a predominance of an empirical and quantitative approach and analysis by regression in the quantitative and a literature revision in the qualitative.
