Bioenergy technologies and forest resources: Pathways to a sustainable green economy

Abstract

Degradation of the environment is the primary concern of policymakers worldwide. Rising carbon emissions due to increased economic activities are considered the main reason behind ecosystem degradation. The economies are switching from conventional to green growth models that can help mitigate the environmental impacts linked to economic growth. Against this backdrop, the primary aim of this analysis is to investigate the effect of bioenergy technologies and forest resources on green growth. The empirical analysis is performed using FMOLS, DOLS, and DCCE techniques. The results indicate that the forest resources promote green growth. Similarly, bio-energy technology significantly contributes to green growth. Moreover, financial development and political stability promote green growth. Further, the study also observes a bi-directional causative link between forest and green growth and trade and green growth. On the basis of these findings, the study suggests that policymakers should rely on forest resources and bioenergy technologies to achieve green growth.
