Der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien-Sektor in Österreich. Struktur, Entwicklungsdynamik und räumliche Muster

Abstract

Im letzten Jahrzehnt wird in der wissenschaftlichen Diskussion auf die wachsende Bedeutung der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien (IKT) und ihre Schlüsselrolle in der sich herausbildenden Wissensökonomie hingewiesen. Das Ziel dieses Artikels besteht darin, die internationale Positionierung Österreichs in diesem wichtigen Zukunftsfeld zu bestimmen, seine räumlichen Muster zu untersuchen und die Rolle Wiens als wichtigsten nationalen IKT-Standort näher zu beleuchten. In einem ersten Schritt werden verschiedene Möglichkeiten der Abgrenzung des Sektors und seine zentralen Charakteristika zur Diskussion gestellt. Anschließend werden die Größe, Struktur und Dynamik des österreichischen IKT-Sektors sowie seine Stärken und Schwächen dargestellt. Danach wird der Fokus auf den wichtigen, bislang aber noch nicht erforschten Bereich der räumlichen Dimension des Sektors gerichtet. Auf der Grundlage einer eigenen Untersuchung werden Erkenntnisse zum Standortmuster des österreichischen IKT-Sektors und seine r räumliche Entwicklungsdynamik vorgestellt. Abschließend wird der IKT-Standort Wien untersucht, der sowohl in Bezug auf die Beschäftigung, als auch auf die Innovationstätigkeit in Österreich führend ist. (Autorenref.)
