Influential Determinants of Chinese Direct Investment in Japan: Navigating the Post-pandemic Knowledge Economy

This study seeks to develop a comprehensive and practical toolkit for evaluating the factors influencing Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Japanese economy. The study focuses on sustaining global economic growth by efficiently allocating resources, promoting foreign investment, and maintaining stable international trade. The study utilizes empirical data, sociological insights, and regression analysis to establish and validate the impact of business and national determinants on Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in Japan. A sociological survey conducted among managers of 10 Japanese branches of a Chinese transnational corporation investigates a range of investment-related criteria, including capital and ownership structure, financial stability, language competency, gender balance, intellectual property portfolios, and other relevant aspects. The analysis examines the external factors that substantially impact the entrance of foreign capital by incorporating government statistics, international consultant reports, and key economic indicators from both China and Japan. This study serves as a fundamental basis for governmental policies seeking to promote investments and formulate strategies within multinational corporations, notwithstanding the disruptive effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on global economic stability and foreign direct investment flows. This research supports the knowledge economy paradigm by highlighting the significance of intellectual capital, technological transfer, and innovative methods in influencing international investment dynamics.
