L’apprentissage : un impact positif sur la réussite scolaire des niveaux V

Abstract

[fre] Les élèves qui préparent une formation professionnelle de niveau V (CAP ou BEP) ont le choix entre le lycée professionnel et l’apprentissage (formation professionnelle alternée). S’appuyant sur les données d’un panel d’élèves du second degré, cet article se propose de préciser les déterminants du choix entre ces deux voies, et de mesurer l’effet d’un passage en apprentissage sur la réussite scolaire. En ce qui concerne l’orientation vers l’apprentissage plutôt qu’en lycée professionnel, même si la trajectoire scolaire passée reste déterminante (notamment le faible niveau . scolaire en fin de 3e, les orientations précoces dès la 4e ou la 3e vers des classes à tendance préprofessionnelle et la scolarisation en ZEP en 3e), c’est le contexte local qui joue le plus grand rôle. En effet, le poids de l’apprentissage dans le dispositif régional des formations de niveau V s’avère un facteur déterminant pour une telle orientation, particulièrement dans le cas des jeunes les plus faibles scolairement. En ce qui concerne l’impact sur la réussite scolaire, la prise en compte du caractère endogène de l’apprentissage permet de mettre en évidence un effet négatif mais non . significatif de ce type de formation sur la probabilité de décrochage scolaire et un effet positif significatif sur la probabilité d’obtention du diplôme. Ainsi, pour un élève orienté en BEP ou en CAP, le passage par l’apprentissage implique de meilleures chances d’obtention du diplôme que le passage par le lycée professionnel.
