Un enfoque no paramétrico para la descomposición de la productividad del trabajo en la industria manufacturera regional

Abstract

Esta investigación descompone la brecha regional y la variación intertemporal de la productividad del trabajo de la industria manufacturera en las contribuciones de la eficiencia técnica y la intensidad de capital, así como en la contribución del cambio tecnológico en el caso intertemporal. Los resultados indican que las diferencias interregionales en la productividad del trabajo en México se deben, principalmente, a la eficiencia técnica con la que opera la industria en las distintas regiones del país y, en menor medida, a las diferencias regionales en el acervo de capital físico por trabajador. Por otro lado, el crecimiento de la productividad del trabajo distó de ser homogéneo en el nivel regional durante el periodo 1998-2008. En el norte y el sur, el incremento en la productividad laboral tuvo como motor principal a la eficiencia técnica; mientras que en las regiones centrales el cambio tecnológico fue el factor de mayor influencia.
