The impact of digital inclusive finance on the allocation of agricultural resources: Micro evidence from rural China

Abstract

This paper uses microdata from China Family Panel Studies to examine the impact of digital inclusive finance (DIF) on allocation of agricultural resources in rural China. Findings indicate that (1) DIF improves farmers’ credit accessibility that helps effective agricultural resource allocation. (2) DIF promotes the mobility of surplus labor, thus alleviating labor misallocation effectively. (3) It facilitates farmers’ participation in transferring land and improves the efficiency of the process. (4) The effect of DIF exhibits regional heterogeneity in terms of the allocation of labor and land.
