Abstract

Die Luftfahrt spielt eine bedeutende Rolle in einer zunehmend global vernetzten Welt. Laut Verkehrsverflechtungsprognose 2030 (BMVI 2014) wird der Luftverkehr in Deutschland von allen Verkehrssegmenten am stärksten wachsen. So soll der Personenverkehr gemessen in Personenkilometern bis zum Jahr 2030 um 65 Prozent zunehmen. Der Frachtverkehr wird sich laut Prognose im gleichen Zeitraum fast verdoppeln. Neben ihrer ökonomischen Bedeutung in einer zunehmend globalisierten Welt muss die Luftfahrt auch anderen gesellschaftlichen und ökologischen Anforderungen gerecht werden. Die Entwicklung der Emission von Lärm und Schadstoffen ist dabei von besonderer Bedeutung. Bei zunehmendem Luftverkehr ist dies nur über technologische Innovationen zu realisieren. Bereits in der Vergangenheit konnten so erhebliche Fortschritte erzielt werden. Um diese Entwicklung bei weiterhin zunehmender Nachfrage nach Luftfahrtleistungen fortzuführen, ist weitere Forschung- und Entwicklung (FuE) notwendig. So stehen die Reduzierung von Emissionen sowie eine höhere (Treibstoff-)Effizienz weiter im Fokus der Forschungsvorhaben. In der folgenden Studie werden die volkwirtschaftliche Bedeutung der Luftfahrtindustrie in Deutschland sowie die Wirkung der Luftfahrtforschungsprogramme LuFo IV-4 und LuFo V-1 auf Wertschöpfung und Beschäftigung herausgearbeitet. Weiterhin werden relevante Kennzahlen zur Entwicklung der FuE-Aktivitäten in der Luftfahrtindustrie dargestellt und die Bedeutung einer staatlichen Forschungsförderung herausgestellt.
