Abstract

"Using data of the IAB-Job Vacancy Survey, we analyze the impact of the German statutory minimum wage on establishment’s shock resilience during the current Corona-crisis. Our findings show that minimum wage establishments are often located in sectors which experience high exposure to the Corona-crisis. The labor demand of minimum wage paying establishments temporarily decreased disproportionally during the second quarter of the year 2020. Furthermore, those establishments applied for short-time work more often compared to establishments that unaffected by the minimum wage." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
