Abstract

Le développement urbain massif des dernières décennies a été concomitant avec un développement tout aussi rapide et généralisé des échanges internationaux : flux financiers, flux de marchandises, flux informationnels ou flux migratoires. La plupart des analystes ont vu dans cette concomitance autre chose qu'une coïncidence et en ont conclu que la métropolisation était le corollaire urbain de la globalisation. Il s'agit ici de questionner cette apparente évidence en allant au-delà des propos métaphoriques ou des analogies formelles et en s'interrogeant sur l'articulation des rapports de forces économiques et sociaux sous-jacents à ce type de représentations.
