Entwicklungschancen der EU-Erweiterung auf Branchenebene

Abstract

Die Unterschiede zwischen den Wirtschaftssektoren bezüglich des derzeitigen Handelsregimes und der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit lassen deutlich divergierende Wirkungen der EU-Erweiterung für die Branchen des österreichischen Sekundär- bzw. Tertiärsektors erwarten. In beiden Sektoren herrschen Branchen mit günstigen oder zumindest neutralen Entwicklungserwartungen vor, in der Sachgüterproduktion sprechen auch die Erfolge des Außenhandels in einem ja bereits weitgehend offenen Handelsregime für die hohe Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der heimischen Unternehmen. Im Dienstleistungsbereich überwiegen insgesamt ebenfalls die Vorteile, doch ergeben sich für einige Teilbereiche Gefährdungspotentiale. Die EU hat in ihrer Verhandlungsposition gegenüber den MOEL darauf bereits reagiert und Zeit für vorbereitende Maßnahmen geschaffen.
