Echanges agricoles intrarégionaux et sécurité alimentaire dans l’espace CEDEAO

Abstract

L’objectif de cet article est d’analyser le lien entre les flux commerciaux agricoles et la sécurité alimentaire dans la Communauté Economique des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (CEDEAO). Un modèle de gravité augmenté sur des données de panel 1995-2015 est estimé pour identifier les facteurs influençant le commerce agricole intra-régional. L’étude évalue ensuite, au niveau des 15 pays de la zone sur la période 2000-2015, l’effet sur la sécurité alimentaire des importations agricoles en provenance de la CEDEAO. La sécurité alimentaire est appréhendée par la prévalence de la sous-alimentation sous ses diffé-rentes dimensions (disponibilité, stabilité et accessibilité). Une simulation permet d’évaluer l’écart entre la prévalence de la sous-alimentation observée et la prévalence qui serait induite par le niveau potentiel de commerce. Les résultats indiquent que les me-sures qui ont pour but de faciliter le commerce agricole intra-régional contribuent à amé-liorer la sécurité alimentaire dans l’espace CEDEAO.
