Wirtschaftliche Rahmenbedingungen als Element der Innovationspolitik

Abstract

In this article three different concepts of innovation policy are presented, namely the basic research oriented, the applied research oriented and the mission oriented concept. Based on empirical literature it is shown that for technologically advanced countries the basic research concept is most appropriate, while for less technologicaly advanced countries the applied research concept appears to be optimal. Switzerland belongs to the most innovative as well as richest countries in the world, so that a basic research innovation policy would be the most suitable one. This implies that policy should have to pay special attention to the maintenance and further improvement of the educational and research system of the country.
