Déterminants de la performance financière et sociale des institutions de microfinance au Cameroun

Abstract

Objectif : Cette étude a visé analyser les performances financières et sociales des Institutions de Microfinance (IMF) Camerounaises. Il s’est agi spécifiquement d’estimer les scores de performance et de faire une analyse des facteurs explicatifs qui sous-tendent ladite performance.Méthodologie : Les données sont issues de MIX MARKET et couvrent 28 IMF camerounaises. Le calcul des scores de performances est réalisé à partir de deux modèles (performance financière (PF) et performance sociales (PS)) et utilise la méthode Data Enveloppent Analysis (DEA) alors que l’analyse des déterminants est faite suivant le modèle économétrique bootstrap truncated.Résultats : Les résultats de cette étude montrent que les IMF Camerounaises sont globalement moins performantes (43,85%), ceci est due à l’inefficacité observée au niveau financier (49,48%). En claire, le rendement des actifs (2,7%) laisse croire que celles-ci ont une rentabilité appréciable comparée respectivement à celle des IMF de la sous-région Afrique centrale (- 0,6 %) et d’Afrique en générale (1,6 %). Cependant, les produits financiers ne parviennent pas à couvrir les charges. On remarque aussi qu’elles ont un niveau de gestion financière très médiocre avec un ratio d’auto-suffisance financier moyen (95,3%). En revanche, elles disposent d’un niveau de performance sociale très appréciable (88,62%).Originalité : Ces résultats constituent une piste plausible de solutions pour promouvoir la microfinance dont la finalité est orientée vers les pauvres. Sans toutefois battre en brèche leur rentabilité financière, les IMF doivent davantage mettre l’accent sur la fluidité et la flexibilité des conditions permettant aux pauvres d’accéder aux financements. Cependant, la microfinance dans sa stratégie devrait concilier l’objectif de performance financière à celui de performance sociale indispensables pour assurer sa durabilité. Cette stratégie viendra davantage renforcer l’atteinte de son but qui, est de briser le cercle vicieux de la pauvreté en cercle vertueux du bien-être tant souhaité par les plus pauvres.
