How financial agglomeration shapes urban sports investment

Abstract

This study examines how financial agglomeration affects urban sports investment using panel data from Chinese cities between 2009 and 2023. The findings show that financial agglomeration significantly promotes sports investment. Mechanism analysis indicates that this influence operates through supply and demand channels, specifically by strengthening financial development and expanding tertiary-sector employment. Additional results reveal that digital finance weakens this effect, whereas better air quality amplifies it.
