Apego familiar y mercado laboral en Colombia: Un análisis de las migraciones recientes

Abstract

A pesar que las variables utilizadas con frecuencia para explicar el comportamiento de las migraciones recientes, no lo hacen de manera satisfactoria; los estudios que utilizan análisis alternativos son muy escasos. Este trabajo propone la inclusión del apego familiar en el análisis descriptivo y metodológico de los determinantes de la migración reciente en Colombia. Utilizando datos de la Encuesta de Calidad de Vida, realizada por el DANE en el ano 2008, se estiman modelos para medir la probabilidad de ser empleado formal y de ser migrante reciente. Adicionalmente, se estudia el impacto de las variables de apego familiar sobre los ingresos laborales mensuales. Las estimaciones indican que el apego familiar y el estar ocupado son factores que determinan de manera significativa las decisiones de migración.
