Abstract

Resumen: Este artículo examina los desajustes entre oferta y demanda laboral por calificaciones en el mercado laboral uruguayo en el período 2000-2009. Se procura medir el fenómeno de la sobrecalificación y la subcalificación para el empleo según tipos de ocupación, su incidencia e impacto en los resultados económicos para los trabajadores. Para ello, se siguen metodologías ampliamente utilizadas en la literatura internacional sobre los determinantes de la sobre calificación y sus impactos en los salarios.Abstract:Assessing the labor supply and demand missmatch by skills in the Uruguay labor market:This article examines the mismatch between labor supply and demand for educational qualificationsin the Uruguayan labor market during 2000-2009. It attempts to measure the phenomenon of under-qualification and overqualification by occupation type based on educational requirement for each occupation. Following the previous literature, the empirical work concentrates on the determinants of over-education and its impact on wages.
