Kurz zum Klima: Klimaschutz im Accord

Abstract

Am Ende des Klimagipfels in Kopenhagen, der Anfang Dezember des vergangenen Jahres stattfand, stand lediglich der so genannte »Copenhagen Accord«, da sich die Teilnehmer nicht auf einen völkerrechtlich bindenden Vertrag einigen konnten. Vereinbart wurde, dass die Länder bis zum 31. Januar 2010 ihre Klimaziele für das Jahr 2020 beim UN-Klimasekretariat vorlegen sollen. Nach Ablauf der Frist zeigt sich, dass die Länder sehr inhomogene Klimaziele angekündigt haben, dass wichtige Emittenten keine absoluten Reduktionsziele nennen und dass die Reduktionsziele vieler Länder nur sehr moderat sind. Vor diesem Hintergrund kann der Copenhagen Accord nicht als besonderer Erfolg gefeiert werden.
