Naive Deckungsbeitragsvergleiche führen bei Vorverträgen in die Ire – Lieferung von Industrierüben zur Bioethanolherstellung

Abstract

Bislang ist wenig über das Verhalten von Landwirten bei Vertragsangeboten für die Lieferung nachwachsender Rohstoffe bekannt. In der vorliegenden Untersuchung wird deshalb die Akzeptanz von Landwirten für Industrierübenlieferverträge untersucht. Dabei zeigt sich, dass das Antwortverhalten der Landwirte nicht den Prognosen entspricht, die sich auf der Grundlage gängiger Deckungsbeitragsvergleiche ergeben. Zudem wird deutlich, dass die Nachbesserung eines Vertrags, die nach einem erfolglosen ersten Vertragsangebot vorgenommen wird, eine geringere Akzeptanz bewirkt als ein sofortiges höheres Vertragsangebot.Little is known about the actual behavior of farmers who are offered forward contracts for renewable resources. The present survey therefore investigates farmers’ acceptance of sugar beet supply contracts. We find that the farmers’ responses are not in line with forecasts which are based on naïve gross margin comparisons. We furthermore find that the subsequent improvement of a contract offer which is made after an initial offer has been rejected by farmers finds a lower acceptance than an initially better offer.
