Der Studienerfolg an der Ostbayerischen Technischen Hochschule Amberg-Weiden: Eine empirische Analyse der Studiengänge Maschinenbau, Medienproduktion und Medientechnik sowie Umwelttechnik

Abstract

Gut ausgebildete Ingenieurinnen und Ingenieure, insbesondere aus den Bereichen Maschinenbau und Elektrotechnik werden in Deutschland überdurchschnittlich stark nachgefragt. Dies gilt vor allem in Bayern. Hier liegt das Verhältnis zwischen Vakanzen und Arbeitslosen bei drei zu eins. Mit Blick auf den demographischen Wandel wird sich dieser Zustand noch weiter verschärfen. Ziel unserer Arbeit ist es, Einflussfaktoren für einen erfolgreichen Studienabschluss beziehungsweise einen Studienabbruch in den Studiengängen Maschinenbau, Medienproduktion und Medientechnik sowie Umwelttechnik zu untersuchen. Mit Hilfe von amtlichen Daten aus der Studentenkanzlei der OTH Amberg-Weiden untersuchen wir mit Förderung durch das Bayerische Wissenschaftsministerium (Programm BestMINT) den Einfluss von sozio-biografischen Variablen auf die prognostizierten Wahrscheinlichkeiten für einen Studienabschluss. Dabei können wir unsere abhängige Variable in die drei Kategorien AbsolventIn, Exmatrikulation wegen nicht bestandener Prüfungsleistung und sonstiger Schwund einteilen. Basierend auf einem multinomialen Regressionsmodell schätzen wir den Einfluss der sozio-biografischen Variablen. Als zwei zentrale Einflussfaktoren ergeben sich dabei das Alter bei Studienbeginn und die Abiturnote.
