L’offerta di beni culturali in Sicilia: analisi econometrica dei flussi turistici negli anni 1999 e 2000

Abstract

L’analisi dell’impatto economico esercitato dalle istituzioni culturali ha costituito l’oggetto di numerosi lavori, volti ad investigare, in generale, la domanda di cultura. Pur osservando un’evidenza rilevata tra il 1999 e il 2000, il presente studio è tuttora di interesse per l’approccio metodologico adottato. Infatti, la regione italiana osservata, la Sicilia, presenta un’elevata concentrazione di siti storici ed archeologici, verso cui, nell’anno 2000, si è avuto un notevole incremento del numero di visitatori, dovuto alla concomitanza di vari fattori. Lo studio svolge un’analisi dei flussi turistici verso i siti culturali nelle province siciliane negli anni 1999 e 2000, spiegando la correlazione di tali flussi con variabili quali il costo del biglietto, la variazione nel prezzo di accesso ad alcune istituzioni culturali dal 1999 al 2000, le presenze turistiche complessive registrate negli stessi anni in Sicilia, le diverse tipologie di siti culturali in cui si articola l’offerta. Dalla stima di un modello OLS a due stadi si evince la relazione inversa tra il numero di visitatori delle istituzione culturali e il prezzo. Tale correlazione inversa risulta verificata, sia che si applichi una stima con il metodo OLS, che con il metodo dei minimi quadrati a due stadi. L’analisi prelude a ulteriori approfondimenti attraverso indagini condotte su piccoli campioni di visitatori per ciascuna istituzione culturale, finalizzate a valutare le preferenze individuali dei visitatori.
