Abstract

Cette contribution estime une échelle d'équivalence tenant compte de la situation spécifique des foyers monoparentaux et des parents non hébergeant vivant seuls. Les estimations s'appuient sur une approche subjective fondée sur l'appréciation qu'ont les ménages de leur propre niveau de vie. Les résultats indiquent que la situation des foyers monoparentaux est mal prise en compte par les échelles d'équivalence les plus utilisées. Les parents non hébergeant vivant seuls supportent, toutes choses égales par ailleurs, des dépenses supplémentaires d'environ un tiers de leur revenu disponible, par rapport aux personnes seules sans enfant à charge. Les échelles d'équivalence surestiment le niveau de vie des foyers monoparentaux et des parents non hébergeant vivant seuls, ce qui conduit à sous-estimer leur taux de pauvreté.
