Abstract

Bien que les coopératives agricoles fassent partie du secteur agricole et des efforts déployés pour encourager les agriculteurs en Algérie, ce mouvement n'atteint pas le développement souhaité. Cet article vise à mieux comprendre le rôle des adhérents à travers leurs organisations. Il tente de déterminer si les coopératives agricoles de services jouent un rôle spécifique, rentable et efficace dans le secteur agricole dans la wilaya de Mascara et si la non-participation des adhérents à la vie coopérative constitue une contrainte au développement de ces organisations et tente d'en expliquer le phénomène. Il cherche en outre à distinguer les contraintes qui freinent l'adhésion des agriculteurs aux coopératives et les difficultés de création de nouvelles coopératives.L'étude se fonde sur des enquêtes auprès des adhérents de la Coopérative Agricole de Services Spécialisés et Approvisionnements (CASSAP)Mohammadia et de la Coopérative de Plants et de Semences (COOPSEM) de Tizi. Elle a révélé que le nombre d'années d'adhésion n'est pas déterminant du niveau de fidélité aux coopératives, à l'exception des nouveaux adhérents ; la participation, très limitée, des adhérents à la vie coopérative a pour but de se renseigner sur les nouveautés; le niveau d'instruction et la confiance en les dirigeants déterminent le niveau de fidélité des agriculteurs ; l'efficacité opérationnelle de ces coopératives est faible car elles sont incapables de répondre aux besoins de leurs adhérents.
