The determinants of polish farmers' credit interest rates : hedonic price analysis and implications for government policy

Abstract

L'analyse micro-économétrique du marché du crédit en Pologne apporte un éclairage nouveau sur la relation entre les arrangements contractuels des prêts et les taux d'intérêt appliqués. Un cadre théorique innovateur basé sur un modèle de marché hédonique est développé. Les auteurs interprètent les facteurs influençant les taux d'intérêt comme des composantes de qualité du contrat de prêt. Ils utilisent un set de données unique, qui comprend des informations détaillées sur les contrats de prêt des agriculteurs polonais. Non seulement les taux d'intérêt nominaux, mais également les frais additionnels demandés par les banques sont pris en compte, en un taux d'intérêt global. Les résultats montrent que le type de collatéral préféré par les banques en Pologne est plutôt des capitaux liquides, et que les banques ne font pas de différenciation selon l'objectif du prêt. Quant à l'impact, sur le taux d'intérêt global, des subventions au crédit par le gouvernement, il est limité par rapport à la réduction du taux d'intérêt nominal qui est en principe appliquée par le gouvernement.
