El fracaso escolar en la educación secundaria: Factores que explican las diferencias regionales

Abstract

Durante los últimos veinte años se ha producido en nuestro país un avance trascendental en la consecución de la plena escolarización de los jóvenes hasta los dieciséis años de edad, por lo que el principal reto al que se enfrenta, actualmente, el sistema educativo español en su etapa secundaria consiste en que los estudiantes consigan titular una vez terminada su escolarización obligatoria y prosigan su formación en estudios post-obligatorios, para acercarnos a la situación de los países de nuestro entorno. Aunque el fracaso escolar es un problema generalizado en todo el sistema educativo español, las diferencias entre Comunidades Autónomas siguen siendo muy elevadas. En este contexto, el objetivo de esta comunicación es doble: por un lado, analizar la situación española de fracaso escolar desde una perspectiva internacional; y, por otro, valorar las diferencias y similitudes en el fracaso escolar entre Comunidades Autónomas, con el fin de encontrar los factores más importantes que pueden explicar dichas diferencias regionales.
