Analysis of Factors Influencing Mobile First Strategy in India

Abstract

In emerging countries such as India, mobile is becoming the primary and possibly the only device for accessing Internet and other information services. In this article, we identify three variables, namely, (a) wireless broadband connectivity (b) affordable smartphones and (c) localised content and applications that drive the value proposition of Mobile First strategy in India. We identify the problems and challenges in all these three dimensions and propose policy prescriptions to overcome the same.
