L'Union monétaire européenne : état des lieux, projets et enjeux

Abstract

[eng] This article deals with the latest developments of European union. Since the beginning of the European monetary system in economic and monetary convergence has strengthened in Europe ; national discrepancies still persist. The latest official propositions the national reactions they have induced show, once more, how monetary union is to implement. Before the European Council place next december, many questions still have to be answered. [fre] Cet article se propose de dresser un état des lieux de l'unification monétaire européenne. Si, depuis la mise en place, en 1979, du Système monétaire européen, la convergence économique et monétaire a progressé, des divergences nationales demeurent, qui rendent difficile la réalisation de l'union monétaire, relevant par ailleurs d'une décision éminemment politique. Les dernières propositions officielles et les réactions nationales qu'elles ont suscitées illustrent l'importance des enjeux. A la veille du Conseil européen de Maastricht, de nombreuses questions cruciales restent sans réponse.
