Abstract

[eng] Computerization, research and productivity. . . In this study, based on large samples of French Manufacturing and Service firms, for the years 1984 and 1992, we consider the firm specific abilities in pursuing Research and Development activities and in using Information Technologies, characterizing them in terms of the firm detailed labor composition by occupation. We find that such abilities have significant positive effects on the firm productivity which go well beyond the more general skill related effects.
